Pall and Matheson Tri-Gas Form Alliance to Provide Gas Purification Products to the Semiconductor Industry
East Hills, NY and Parsippany, NJ (August 30, 2004) - - Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL) and Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., a member of Nippon Sanso Corporation (Nikkei: JP: 4091), have entered into a strategic alliance to jointly develop, manufacture and sell gas purifiers to the semiconductor industry.
The alliance builds on a long-standing relationship between Pall and Matheson and leverages each company’s strengths in gas purification. Both companies will have exclusive access to the others’ purification media to improve semiconductor manufacturing by eliminating particulate and molecular contaminants, including oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons from process gases. The two companies will also combine their complementary strengths in the development of new technologies to meet the increasingly stringent and changing needs of the semiconductor industry.
“Our new alliance provides this $30 million market with an expanded portfolio of media and unparalleled purification technology for virtually every application in semiconductor processing,” said Steven Chisolm, president of Pall Microelectronics. “This is increasingly important as gas purification becomes a dominant factor in semiconductor manufacturing.”
William J. Kroll, chairman, CEO and president of Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc. added, “Our new business relationship will afford both Matheson and Pall improved efficiencies in our purification product offerings, resulting in better overall products for the market.”
The two companies have been working together since 1997, when Pall began distributing Matheson’s NANOCHEM® point-of-use gas purification systems. These systems have provided unprecedented purification solutions to the electronics industry since 1985 and were the first point-of-use purifiers to deliver sub parts per billion (ppb) purity level gas to the semiconductor industry.
Pall Microelectronics began developing its own purification technology for the semiconductor market in 1998. Its newest innovation, AresKleen gas purification material, has gained wide market acceptance since its introduction last year and builds on the company’s long-term market leadership in gas filtration.
The Microelectronics Group supports the semiconductor, data storage, fiber optic, advance display and materials markets with a comprehensive suite of contamination control solutions for chemical, gas, water, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) and photolithography processes.
